Who are Stan and Julie?

Julie works as a bartender at Jacky's 33 in her spare time. She is also studying to be a physical therapist. Dr. Katz has a romantic interest in her.

Stan is a regular at Jacky's 33. And though we don't actually know what he does for a job, he is pretty good at filling people full of crap. It is possible that in the past he has worked in either real estate or financial advising, but we're convinced that he is now a professional bar slug. Stan and Julie are both good friends of Dr. Katz.

Who has Dr. Katz had relationships with?

Roz Katz - his ex-wife and Ben's mother.

Sharon Koppleman - a hippie woman he sang with in college and almost married

Who is Ben's mother? Are there any references to her in the show?

Ben's mom is Roz Katz. She was an argument topic in episode 202, "Real Estate", where she was going to be driving through town. She is also mentioned in the "Dr. Katz - Me At a Glance" book. Roz Katz finally appeared on the show in episode 518 "Thanksgiving".

Do the characters always wear the same clothes?

Although the color scheme is similar in the characters' wardrobes, they do not always wear the same outfits. Laura has been seen in a long skirt, a short skirt, and different colored tops. Dr. Katz wears different shirts and ties, and he also has some funky dress-up clothes. Ben is usually seen in the same blue shirt, white t-shirt, green shorts, and mismatched socks, although the sock colors do change. He has also borrowed his dad's funky dress clothes. Stan and Julie are always seen in the same clothes at the bar, but Juile wears a sweatsuit when she works-out with Johnathan.

When does Dr. Katz go to Jacky's 33?

He usually goes after work, but it also seems that he sometimes goes during lunch. He was seen eating a sandwich there is episode 102 "Pretzelkins".

What does Ben do all day long?

Basically, nothing. When he's done doing that, he "returns calls", gets his resume' into "ship shape", takes at least four naps, munches chips and various cereals, drinks herbal tea, watches TV, pesters Laura, and half-heartedly looks for jobs if he has any time left over.

What's with the statues outside of Dr. Katz's office building?

Who knows. They are very odd, and random, but they certainly do add to the humor of the show.

What's with Dr. Katz's fish aquarium?

It seems that there are always different fish in the tank (usually just one at any given time). Often the fish is dead and appears to be sucked in a circular motion by the filter. Dr. Katz actually notices in episode 405, "Ben Treats", that his fish is dead. We have yet to see if he will get a fresh one.

Is Dr. Katz a Therapist in real life?

No He is a commedian.

Where can I get Dr. Katz merchadise?

Through a local bookstore it is pretty easy to find "Dr. Katz - Me At a Glance" which is a day planner book written by Glenn Eichler. It is not written by Jonathan Katz so be sure to look in the humor section under E for Eichler. There are videotapes also available of various episodes. 3 seperate tapes, mainly of the earlier episodes have been sighted at bookstores as well. An audio cassette called "Dr. Katz's Therapy Sessions" is also available. All of these items are priced between $10 and $15. For more information try searching on Amazon.com or Rhino Records.

Does J. Katz really play the guitar?

Yes. As a commedian on the show "The A-List" he was a guest where he brought out the guitar during his act. On an episode of "Ink" a sitcom on ABC he was also seen playing the guitar. In the credits of some of the episodes you can see that lyrics to songs in the show were also written by him.
