Summary - Episode 509 London Broil
by Liz
Starts in the kitchen as Ben is confessing to his father that the time they spend
together during breakfast is boring. They reminisce about the games they used to
play in restaurants, on trips and around the house, one of their favorites being
treasure hunts. As Katz is leaving for work he asks Ben to defrost the London Broil
so they can have it for dinner. When he comes home Ben has "hid" the London
Broil and has devised a hunt for his dad to find it. This gets Katz in the spirit
and he decides to surprise Laura by putting candy in her walk-man.
Brian shares memories of nursery school, a doctorís office and a growing up in a
less than tough neighborhood. He confesses his difficulties in disciplining his own
son, telling a story about an outing the two of them had and admitted why his father
returning to college isnít always a good thing.
Kevin tells the doctor about a car trouble experience that left him relating to homeless
people better. He shares his observations on corporate American advertising and his
frustrations with city life and going to the gym.
Katz comes home to find the whole house covered in clues. This gives the Katz "the
fever" and he decides to make Laura go on a treasure hunt to find her paycheck.
She reluctantly agrees and finds a shortcut. Ben comes over to shares some hunting
strategies with Laura and brags about how much better he is at playing the game than
his dad is. At the bar, Jonathan tells Stanley and Julie about Benís childhood fascination
with knock-knock jokes and the unique version of hide and seek that he would play
with him. Ben wakes up with a clue on his head but isnít alarmed because he had already
put one on his dad somewhere less obvious. Katz then realizes that theyíve gone too
far with the treasure hunts so they resolve to quit, but not without one last battle.
