Summary - Episode 103 Bully
by Jeff Sass
The third episode begins with Ben outside walking behind the apartment building
when he is absolutely shocked to see Bully (a stuffed animal) sitting on top of a
pile of garbage. Ben immediately jumps in to "rescue" Bully when Katz drives
up in his car. They proceed to discuss how Bully could have possibly ended up in
the dumpster and Katz blames it on Grace, the cleaning lady. Ben does not buy that
story and wants an apology. Katz is not in the mood to continue this discussion while
Ben is still in the dumpster. Ben then wants to know if Katz would throw out his
human friends as well.
Ray Romano is back to discuss his marriage and how seemingly unimportant decisions
early on make a big difference later. For example, choosing which side of the bed
to sleep on. Deciding which roles to play in a marriage are also important to Ray.
Not only does he need to take out the trash and mow the lawn but he is the designated
"noise checker-outer" of the family. His wife wants a yogurt even if the
noise isn't anything.
Ben is labelling all of his items using a very complicated 4 color scheme. Ben thinks
that he is "next" to leave. Katz reassures him that he has never put any
pressure on him to leave the apartment and make a life for himself on his own. Katz
is not at all sarcastic about any of this.
Still at the house, Katz has now whipped out the guitar. He is singing and Ben is
not that thrilled about any of the "fine picking blues". Ben is too tired
from his exhausting day to listen to music. Katz and Roz used to listen to the blues
all of the time back in school but now is not really the time for Ben. Ben does suggest
however, that Jonathan go to the open mic night and sing.
Joy Behar enters the waiting room and shows a green sweater to Laura who is of course
thrilled to death. After a scathing exchange, Joy is ready for her session.
Joy's mother likes to rinse things in the sink and loves to hear about people dying.
Joy can get "angry" with men because they never change their socks.
Ben is with Laura explaining the open mic night scene. He actually convinces her
to go with him on a "date" to see Katz making a fool of himself.
Ray is looking to spice up his sex life. He doesn't need to use a motel for four
hours but he feels like he does. He has a problem with his pacing and going that
one move too far.
Over at the open mic night Laura tells Ben that they are not on a date. Katz is having
a very difficult time with the audience and attempting to describe his song. He then
fully embarrases himself and Ben with a song about Bully.
Outside for a breather Laura joins Ben and they discuss that "good" kind
of pain. Laura keeps chewing on cold sores because she thinks they are a turn-on.
Of course Ben is all over that.
Joy is discussing food when she turns hostile toward Katz. She starts totally ripping
on him. Questions about nose hair, sex, leering, and breast size fill out the rest
of her session.
Ray is the type of person to make little excuses to get out of the house - jury duty,
motor vehicle department, etc. He also mentions that his three year old is in control
of the house. All business calls are interrupted by her and cookies. The episode
ends with some jokes about "cocky".
